This policy
Burrell Industries handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect through MAIT and why.
What we collect
Your name, email, phone number, company and delivery address; your orders, quotes and the part files and design descriptions you give us; and how you use the site (pages visited, device and browser, and which ad or link brought you here). Card payments go straight to our payment provider — we don't receive or store card numbers.
Why we collect it
To quote, make, deliver and support your orders; to keep your account and order history; to contact you about an order; to improve our service and prices; and, where you've agreed or the law allows, to tell you about our services.
AI design
When you describe a part on our Design page, your description (and, when you ask for a change, the current design and a picture of it) is sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model we use, to generate the design. Don't include personal or confidential information you don't want processed this way.
Who we share it with
Only the businesses that help us run the service: our hosting and data-storage providers, our payment processor, delivery carriers, our email provider, the AI provider above, and analytics and advertising services (such as Google and Meta) that measure how our ads perform. Some of these providers store data outside Australia. We don't sell your personal information.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and measure our website and ads. You can block cookies in your browser; signing in and the cart need them to work.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes above and our legal record-keeping obligations.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you — use the contact details on our website. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first; if you're not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
